Drs. Robert H. and C. Jayne Wilcox Otter Chemistry Endowed Scholarship

The spirit of this scholarship is to provide incentive to students who are not necessarily top academic performers so that they will continue to strive for excellence in their studies. Students who exhibit attributes such as self-discipline, motivation, integrity, perseverance, and generosity towards classmates are excellent candidates for the award. They need not have the highest grades in their chemistry classes, but should demonstrate an attitude toward their studies that is honorable, well-intentioned, and inspirational to both their classmates and instructors.

“We established the Otter Chemistry Fund in 1993 as a way to give back to education, a career Jayne has loved, and to support Harper College, where she feels she has had exceptional experiences with students and colleagues.

“We feel that, sometimes, all students need are a little encouragement and recognition to instill the confidence necessary for their academic success. This confidence often spills over into other facets of their lives. The Educational Foundation helped us from the very beginning to design a fund that would accomplish our goal of being able to reward several students each academic year for their hard work.”
