Impact
The Rotary Club of Schaumburg/Hoffman Estates have committed to supporting Harper College students through two scholarships.
The first scholarship, the Rotary Club of Schaumburg/Hoffman Estates Fishing Well Scholarship, will support adult students living or working in Schaumburg Township who are pursuing a degree or certificate program. Designed to support adult students who are overcoming challenges in their life, the Fishing Well Scholarship will specifically serve students who are enrolled in Harper’s ESL program, HSE (High School Equivalency) Program, Career Bridge Program, Fast Track Program or the Rita and John Canning Women’s Program. The Rotary Club of Schaumburg/Hoffman Estates is building on their already existing relationships with the Palatine Opportunity Center, WINGS, Kenneth Young Center and other community service agencies by offering preference to those students who have received referrals and references from these existing organizations to Harper College. The scholarship will provide $25,000 in funding annually for four years, and the Club’s intention is to grow the scholarship exponentially over the next few years.
The second scholarship is the Rotary Club of Schaumburg/Hoffman Estates Transfer Scholarship, which is a $5,000 award for Harper College students residing or working in Schaumburg Township, who plan to transfer to a four year college or university.
