Oil Field Safety Education & Policy Scholarship-Do you or your family have experience working oil fields or have interest in methods of protection for current and future oil field workers and their families? If so, then this scholarship may be for you.

Oil and Gas Workers Fatality Rates Are 7 Times The National Average For All Occupations.
New Mexico houses the Permian Basin: the “crown jewel” of the world’s oil industry. The Basin has brought in thousands of jobs for workers, but oil field work has its downsides. According to OSHA, It is reported that a total of 120 fatal work injuries occurred in the oil and gas extraction industry in 2008–making it one of the most dangerous jobs in America.
Legal protection is necessary for workers and families affected by oil field-related injuries. Some workers fear that their children will work in the oil industry, and one way for workers to protect their children is by ensuring that they receive an education and advocate for the protection of other oil field workers.

The “Oil Field Safety” Education and Policy Initiative
In an effort to reduce the devastating consequences an oil field injury can inflict on the next generation, Fadduol, Cluff, Hardy, & Conaway, P.C. are offering a $2,500 scholarship to students.
Overview: Our oilfield injury lawyers are asking students to write an essay of at least 500 words detailing the story of their parents’ experience work in the oil fields, methods of protection for current and future oil field workers and their families, and their plan for securing their future outside of the industry. Students are encouraged to artfully tell their story and outline detailed ways to protect workers and families in the future.
