Merit Scholarship
‰Û¢ $2,500 scholarships available to continuing undergraduate students enrolled at NIU for Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 ($1,250 Fall/$1,250 Spring)
‰Û¢ Each applicant is only eligible to receive one Alumni Association scholarship per academic year
‰Û¢ Alumni Association Merit Scholarships are funded in part by generous gifts from Eva L. Benson, Everett and Helen Marshall, and Elzo and Helen Schutt
‰Û¢ Recipients will become members of the Student Alumni Association
‰Û¢ Recipients will be required to assist in various Alumni Association events throughout the year
Scholarship Requirements
‰Û¢ Undergraduate student must be a currently enrolled, transfer, or reentering student with some college coursework completed
‰Û¢ 3.5 minimum GPA from all colleges attended
‰Û¢ Enrolled full time at NIU (12 semester hours) for the Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 semesters
‰Û¢ Completed application, with all supporting documentation, returned to the NIU Alumni Association, BAVC, 231 N. Annie Glidden Rd., DeKalb, IL 60115, no later than 4 p.m. on February 1, 2016. Applications sent by mail must be postmarked by February 1, 2016.

Supporting Documents Required
‰Û¢ Letter from applicant describing outstanding qualities, academic and personal accomplishments, and educational goals. Letter must be limited to one page.
‰Û¢ One professional letter of recommendation (cannot be from an immediate family member or friend) who can expound on applicant‰Ûªs accomplishments and abilities. Letter must be limited to one page.
‰Û¢ Unofficial transcripts documenting college coursework. An unofficial transcript is required from each college attended. An official transcript will be required if recipient is selected for the scholarship.
