NIU Alumni Association - The O’Brien-Vrba Scholarship Trust

The O‰ÛªBrien Vrba Scholarship Trust offers students a $2,000 to $3,000 scholarship for their studies.

The deadline to submit an application and all required documents is April 15, 2016. Seniors [at NIU] cannot renew their application; graduates can renew once.

Have you included the following required documents with your application?
o One page typed letter stating why you should receive the scholarship.
o Official transcript from your high school and college. (May be mailed separately)
o Copy of your ACT and/or SAT score. Documented on high school transcript is acceptable.
o If you are changing schools please provide a copy of letter of acceptance to the school you will be attending.
o Page 1 and 2 from 2015 federal income tax return. Please note that applications with adjusted gross income exceeding $75,000 will not be considered.
o A letter from a teacher or advisor attesting to your performance and character.
(Letter must be on letterhead with advisor‰Ûªs signature and title.)
o A letter from a person responsible for coordinating community service attesting to your involvement. Extra credit is given for leadership roles, i.e., organizing an event, officer position, camp counselor, etc. The letter must attest to what kind of leadership role you held. (Letter must be on letterhead with advisor‰Ûªs signature and title.)
o Please do not bind or put in folder.
